For this colorful St. Patrick's Day Wreath you will need:
1-7 & 9: Caron Brand | 8: Jojoland Tonic Brand
Lion Brand BonBons
- US G 4.00mm Clover hook
- Yarn: for the rainbow, 1-7; for the green portion, 8 (see yarn colors in table above)
- Scissors
The rainbow portion of the wreath will be worked in a series of hdc using 7 different colors in the following order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purpleish blue, purple
To begin, chain 95
Rows 1-7: hdc on 2nd chain from hook. hdc all the way to the end. chain 1. Turn.
Rows 8-14: repeat rows 1-7.
Fasten off.
The green portion of the wreath will be worked in a series of hd.
Chain 23
hdc on 2nd chain from hook. hdc all the way to the end. chain 1. Turn.
I recommend making it a less than half of the total length of the wreath.

Row 1: With the black yarn, chain 12, sc in 2nd chain from hook and each remaining chain. Chain 1 and turn (11)
Row 2: Skip 1st sc, sc in next 9 sts, leave the last st unworked. Chain 1 and turn (9)
Row 3: sc in 1st st, 2sc in next st, sc in each st all the way to the last 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st. Chain 1 and turn (11)
Row 4: Repeat row 3. Chain 1 and turn (13)
Row 5: Skip 1st st, sc in each st to last 2 sts, sc2tog. Chain 1 and turn (11)
Row 6-12: Repeat row 5
sc a border around your work.
When you get to the bottom edge of the pot o' gold, you will make little "feet":
Chain 3, sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc
Continue sc in each st until you reach the other edge of the pot o' gold and repeate the above step.
sc in the next st and fasten off.
To create the "coins"in the pot o' gold:
chain 2 and sc in next st all the way across.
Fasten off.
I also used the black yarn to make a "belt" that will go around the part where the rainbow meets the green portion of the wreath. I chained 23 and on the 2nd chain from hook, I worked sc all the way across. I did this for about 4 rows.
I sewed the green portion of the wreath onto the foam first. The rainbow portion was sewn in second and attached to the green portion. Notice how the green portion looks "horizontal" and the rainbow portion looks "vertical":
First, I attached the "belt," as see above, using a hot glue gun. econd and attached to the green portion. Notice how the green portion looks "horizontal" and the rainbow portion looks "vertical":
Second, I attached the pot o' gold to the second part where the rainbow meets the green portion of the wreath:

To attach the 4 leaf clovers, run white thread through them, on their backside. I also used a hot glue gun to attach the tread to the back of the wreath and then slid the 4 leaf clovers on the thread until I was happy with their arrangement.
